Gym Teacher Arrested After Allegedly Having Sex With Former Student & Asking Him For Nudes On Snapchat!
May 28, 2019
A gym teacher in upstate New York has been arrested and charged after she allegedly used Snapchat to lure a 16-year-old boy into having sex with her.
According to the New York State Police, Lindsey M. Halstead (above) was arrested Tuesday on charges of sexual misconduct and endangering the welfare of a child.
The 29-year-old was the alleged victim’s physical education teacher during the 2017-2018 school year, where she worked for four years. Halstead resigned from the Waterloo Central School District in February, before the year was over, and began working for another school district.
Months later, per court records, Halstead reached out to her former student on social media. The teen told police that he messaged his teacher frequently on Snapchat — and within a few weeks, she began to send him nude photos of herself.

The teen also claimed that Halstead asked him if he was “going to send her something†in return, though it’s unclear whether he complied with her requests.
Eventually, Halstead allegedly made plans for the two to meet up in early November. The student claimed she picked him up at the library and drove to a spot behind the Hampton Inn, where they had sex in the backseat of her SUV.
After the alleged tryst, the teen says Halstead was upbeat, while he was “pretty quiet†and “just said a few words.â€
Soon, Halstead reportedly began harassing the teen on social media. The teen claimed the teacher was asking if he had told anyone, causing him to eventually block her on Instagram and Snapchat.Â
He told police:
“I was like, ‘This is weird.’ Why is she still texting me?â€
Halstead has been charged with one count of sexual misconduct for allegedly engaging in oral sex with the boy, and faces another count of sexual misconduct for allegedly having intercourse with him. She’s also been hit with one misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child for soliciting the alleged naked Snapchat photos.

The school district said it has been cooperating with authorities, with Waterloo Central School Superintendent Terri Bavis noting in a statement:
“The safety and security of our students is of utmost importance and all reports of any kind are treated seriously.â€
The investigation is still ongoing.
Authorities believe there may have been additional victims, and are asking anyone who may have any valuable information to contact the State Police in Waterloo at (315) 539-3530.
