Surprising Wednesday update on sales figures of Newcastle v Southampton tickets

An update on sales of Newcastle v Southampton tickets.
Saturday’s match is now only 3 days away with 15th in the table taking on 16th.
Cardiff’s win on Tuesday evening seems to have created it a two club race for the final relegation location as the Welsh club trail Brighton by only two points.

Southampton and Newcastle are 5 and seven points clear of third bottom respectively and the bookies make each of them enormous 300/1 outsiders to go down.
In spite of this searching a largely meaningless game, on Wednesday afternoon the official Newcastle United ticketing web-site is displaying significantly less than 100 tickets remaining.
What is specifically impressive is that Newcastle fans have also had 1,500 tickets commonly reserved for away fans.
Southampton took an allocation of 1,700 tickets and with none on sale on their official ticketing web-site, it seems they have sold the decreased allocation they took.
The Saints fans are helped by the truth the club’s sponsors (Virgin Media) subsidise all away tickets, which means that no Southampton supporter has to spend far more than £20 for an away ticket.
This will be a second game in a row whereby Newcastle have the backing of more than 50,000 fans.
Crystal Palace also only had 3 blocks of the away section totalling 1,700 tickets but failed to sell about 300 of them, which means that regardless of Newcastle fans obtaining the rest of the tickets, which includes the sections not sold by Palace, 1 of the Palace sections was only half filled and mainly because of segregation concerns the unsold tickets couldn’t be purchased by Newcastle fans.
The truth the game is on reside Television hasn’t proved a deterrent either, with of course a five,30pm kick-off fitting nicely, if your intention is to go straight out in town soon after the match.
Sounds like a strategy!

The Premier League crowds so far at St James Park this season have been:
51,749 v Tottenham
51,791 v Chelsea
52,165 v Arsenal
51,523 v Leicester
50,329 v Brighton
